Sea Ranch Treehouse
Set among the windswept cypress trees along the Sonoma Coast, a family retreat unfolds with a sense of ease. Cedar walls, sloping rooflines and large windows anchor the home in its surroundings, framing forest and ocean views that shift with the light and weather.
Originally built in 1972 by architect John Haag as part of The Sea Ranch’s visionary midcentury modern enclave, the house retains a deep connection to place. The renovation is guided by reverence for the original architecture. Millwork is refreshed, a window seat tucks into the kitchen and the bathrooms are refreshed with restraint. Intentional gestures like the ceramic gingham tile, curated textiles and furnishings like a Roger Capron cocktail table and Alvar Aalto dining chairs introduce color and character without disturbing the calm. At The Sea Ranch, life moves with the tides.
