Pacific Heights Contemporary
San Francisco is not all Victorian row houses. This contemporary house was created as a light-filled tower, restrained in its use of materials. With a swath of sky and the expanse of the bay as a backdrop, the interiors called for subtle layers and soft pieces.
Deep-seated sofas are topped with silk-velvet pillows and cashmere throws. A parchment leather cabinet houses the family's antique china collection, and a handblown glass chandelier floats above a dining table made for big family dinners - proof that contemporary architecture can feel warm and inviting, without sacrificing an ounce of style.
