Nestled among lava fields and perched against a dramatic mountain backdrop, the Island Barn House is poised between sea, land and sky on Hawaii’s Big Island.

Designed by Walker Warner Architects to honor the landscape, this extraordinary home is linked by a meandering ipe walkway through courtyards of volcanic rock and lush foliage. We brought the architectural gestures to human scale with our interiors, layering natural materials, woven textiles and midcentury and artisan furnishings with nods to Hawaiian craft. Tactile details—from caning accents to artwork—are found throughout. Everywhere you look, Hawaii takes center stage.
